Program Overview

The J-1 Au Pair Program is a unique 12-month cultural exchange that allows young adults to live with an American host family while providing childcare services. It’s the perfect blend of work, study, and travel, designed to foster global understanding and personal growth.

Eligibility

To enroll in the Au Pair Program, you must meet the following requirements:

Must be 18-26 Years old
Previous childcare experience with non-family, verified by reference
Minimum High School Diploma
Clean Police Record
Valid driver’s license
be able to pay the following fees: Membership Fee $3,500JMD & Program Fee $850USD

What’s Included?

Live-In Accommodations: Enjoy a private room and all meals provided by your host family.
Weekly Stipend: Earn a consistent weekly stipend for your childcare services. Estimate $200USD+ Weekly
Educational Allowance: Receive up to $500 USD toward credits at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.
Cultural Immersion: Experience American holidays, traditions, and daily life as an integrated family member.
Travel Opportunities: Benefit from a "30-day grace period" at the end of your program to explore the United States.

Participant Responsibilities

As an Au Pair, you will provide up to 45 hours of childcare per week, assisting with tasks like school drop-offs, meal prep for kids, and engaging educational activities. In return, you gain a "home away from home" and professional international experience.

Step 1: Pay Membership Fee & Program Fee Deposit

Interested clients must pay their Membership Fee of $3,500JMD at the below account: Note: The below account is a JMD account, and fees must be paid in JMD Dollars.

Once payment has been made, ensure to have photo or a scanned copy of your receipt.

Step 2: Submit Your Application

Submit your application for the Au Pair Program. Ensure to have the list of items before submitting your application. They are:

Payment Receipts of Membership Fee & Program Fee Deposit.
Digital Passport Photo (This is taken at passport photo studio)
A scanned copy of your passport bio page.
A copy of your CV/Resume.
Minimum High School Diploma

Step 3: Application Processing & Pre-screening Interview

Please allow the agent 3-5 business days to process your application, upon completion the agent will issue you a receipt for payment. If you should have any questions, please email us at apply@thepassportja.com

Step 4: Complete Your Interview with Host Employer & Pay your remaining Program Fee.

Once your Sponsor has confirmed your placement, you will be required to pay your remaining fees and provide any outstanding documents. Note: The following fees will be due in 5 business days, remaining Program fee of $550USD.

Step 5: Secure Your J-1 Visa

Secure your J-1 Visa at the U.S. Embassy and book your travel! The Passport Work and Travel Services Limited will walk you through the embassy interview process to give you the best chance of securing your visa. Once you receive your visa, you will coordinate with your sponsor on the who, what, where, and when of your arrival.
